 Branko Ruzic, Minister of Public Administration and Local Self-Government

He was born on 14 December 1975 in Zemun.  

He graduated from the Faculty of Political Sciences in Belgrade, Department of International Relations, where he served  student vice dean from 1996 to 1999.  

He  was a Member of Parliament in the National Assembly of Serbia from January 2001 to December 2003.

From 2004 to 2006 he was a Member of Parliament in the  Assembly of State Union of Serbia and Montenegro. In this convocation, he was also a member of the European Integration Committee in the Assembly of State Union of Serbia and Montenegro, and a member of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe in Strasbourg.

In the  convocation of the National Assembly from 2008 to 2012, he was a Member of Parliament and  the president of parliamentary group SPS-UN (United Serbia - Jedinstvena Srbija),  as well as a member of the permanent  delegation of the National Assembly of Serbia to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, where he was a member of the Political Committee and a member of the  Human Rights Committee.

In the May 2012 elections, he was re-elected a Member of Parliament of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia , and since then, he has held the position of president of SPS parliamentary group.

From April 2000 to December 2002, he was the president  of the Youth of the Socialist Party of Serbia. From March 2001 to December 2002, he was a spokesman of SPS.   

In 2001, he was elected vice president of the Main Committee of the Social Party of Serbia, and on 18 January 2003 at VI congress of SPS, he was re-elected to his position.   

He was elected president of the Executive Board of the Main Board of the Socialist Party of Serbia at VII congress of SPS on 3 December 2006. 

He was re-elected to his position at VII congress of SPS in 2010.

In 2014, at IX congress of SPSН, he was elected vice president of the Main Committee of the Socialist Party of Serbia.

He was a long-term member of the Foreign Affairs Committee, Committee on Administrative, Budgetary, Mandate and Immunity Issues, and the European Integration Committee.

In 2013, in the  Government of the Republic of Serbia he served as the  Minister without portfolio in charge of European Integration, in the period when the negotiation framework was adopted, and the European Union officially opened the negotiations with the Republic of Serbia.

From 2009 to 2014 he served as vice president of the football club  “Partizan”.

He currently serves as the Minister of Public Administration and Local Self-Government  in the  Government of Republic of Serbia from 29 June 2017.

He speaks English.

He is married to Ana, and they have two children, son Milutin and daughter Elena.
